From a small hunting cabin in the woods to a spacious multi-structure home nestled into the side of a mountain overlooking the valley.  Requiring a steep slope variance, the extreme terrain and grade became integral elements of the design.  The main house remained in the footprint of the cabin, retaining only the original fireplace and exterior stone wall.  The new garage with an in-law suite above was built down at the driveway level, 40 steps below.  The structure connecting the two provides interior access between them while accommodating the extreme change in elevation.
